cdbaby and the future

This is a new blog for cd baby artist and a dicussion on our future. I'm posting a comment here that I posted at cdbaby.org today. Everyone is hoping cdbaby will get it together and I plan on staying there, but I'm interested in hearing thoughts on cdbaby and any new sites or ideas regarding a co-op music site we could start for ourselves and even work with cdbaby but have some control and voice of our own. Below is my most recent post at cdbaby.org:

Before this relaunch I don't think I've seen unhappy people on cd baby.I don't have a problem at all with the people that are trying to fix things, but also don't have any problem with the people that are speaking up about whats wrong.I think its important to speak up.I want cd baby to be the company I joined and expect cd baby to listen to our complaints, there valid. Most of these complaints are at who is making the decisions not the people on this forum who work for cd baby.I like the new artist pages, I don't like the front page to the site its gen*ric looking and does not reflect the talented artist that make up cd baby. Many here would be happy to contribute artwork towards a new front page, then make a t-shirt with the new front page artwork and we'll wear them to our gigs and help generate sales. I would prefer the old accounting system and the section that told us how many visitors we had and where on the web they came from. Many of us had figured ways to actually see what marketing ideas worked by seeing who visited and where they came from. Many hours have been spent making it all work for ourselves and for cd baby.Everyone knows how nice it is to come to your site and see a sale even when its only $.14. Just that little bit could make my day. How brilliant it would be if someone would make the decision to give us back the old accounting and a few bits of the old site and the best of the new site.If i hear those words then I'll no that someone cares and is listening and prepared to maintain

The bits of success that i'v had may be related to my past airplay that I received while I was signed to some small labels . There was no money spent but being with a label at the time must have helped because my cds got on the charts right away. I was also lucky to have people like Joe Sample, Neil Larsen,Richard Elliott and an allstar rhythm section to boot. Airplay came quickly and my cds made it to around 12 or 15 on Gavin and R&R and #4 on Japans billboard for about a week. These days i'm independent and airplay is a little harder to come by. My label Midnight Pass Music is small and at this time we have 5 cds for sale and 2 soon to be released. Moving Skies our contemporary jazz cd is getting some pretty good airplay. When I released it I thought it would do a little better based on my past success but like I said its a little harder now.I'm confident though that can change for all of us.
